Let Freedom Rain
Grandfather's look upon me
I hear them chant 'forevermore'
And it gives me strength
Let freedom rain, let freedom rain, let it rain down on me
There's a place that I remember
Where prairie meets a clear blue sky
Our Mother's beauty-neverending
Where Ghost Dancer's sing a warrior's cry
And you could ride into forever
While atop you trusted steed
Where living in true freedom
Didn't mean you had to bleed
And it gives me strength
Let freedom rain, let freedom rain, let it rain down on me
My family's smiles are burned forever
In the sketching of my mind
Echoes of laughter from my children
And the Old Ones left behind
I know one day I'll taste that freedom
And I'll see them once again
Till then I'll fight the good fight
With the help of all my kin
And that gives me strength
Let freedom rain, let freedom rain, let it rain down on me
So on this day as I reflect
These many blessings in my heart
Every fiber of my being
Threatening to fall apart
And though white mans lies may keep me here
Behind these walls of gray
My Spirit soars above this place
And they can't take that away
This gives me strength.......
