STORIES TO BE TOLD

There is always a time for story telling. Stories of the lessons the animals have taught us - stories of the sun, the moon and the stars. Of the wise old owl. Stories that teach - lessons about sharing, being truthful, being brave. Stories to entertain, to make the people laugh and some that can even be scary. But all have a purpose. There are so many traditional stories from all the native cultures.

The children are encouraged to come into the circle, and more often than not, I have found, they are eager to take part in each story told. There have been many times, when I have invited the children to tell a story and from the smallest child of all, to the eldest, they do not hesitate to come forth and share their stories too.

There is much to learn from all creation that surrounds us. And for the native peoples, history, legends and stories that teach, were the oral tradition, from generation to generation.
